Personal statement

Since April 2017, I have worked as a Research Associate at the University of Strathclyde in the department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. I received the MEng degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and PhD degree working on an EPSRC ICASE studentship with BAE Systems in 2017, both from the University of Strathclyde. I have consistently demonstrated a strong proficiency in all aspects of my role, encompassing successful leadership and execution of research projects with a focus on industrial applications. My collaborative approach has allowed me to effectively work alongside international academic and industrial partners, fostering valuable relationships. In addition, I have shown an ability for shaping future research objectives, providing guidance to team members, and overseeing their progress. I have also actively pursued the expansion of my international networks and the enhancement of my research reputation. By engaging with colleagues worldwide, I have cultivated connections that have enriched my research pursuits significantly. I have prepared and contributed to several successful research proposals amounting to a total exceeding £725,000, and have generated a total of 19 academic publications. Having actively engaged in numerous industrially facing research projects and successfully delivered a range of knowledge exchange activites, I have gained insights into the critical importance of industrially applicable research. My ongoing research is centered around the development of decision support systems, with a specific emphasis on ensuring their explainability and practicality in real-world industrial contexts. Central to this is the idea of retaining the essential human element, ensuring their involvement within the decision-making processes.
